Bloomin’ beautiful!

Mums: they’re the ones who teach us how to walk, put up with our teenage angst, and offer a helping hand even when we’re all grown up. They’re our biggest supporters, fiercest protectors and and the ones who always know exactly what to say (even when we don’t want to hear it).

So, when it comes to celebrating the most important woman in our lives on her special day (AKA Mother’s Day), we want to make sure we get it just right. And what better way to show our love and appreciation than with a beautiful bouquet of flowers?

Flowers have long been a vital part of Mother’s Day. They’re a source of natural beauty and joy, and they bring a lot of meaning to our lives in a variety of ways. Whether they’re enjoyed in a garden, in a vase in your home, or simply appreciated via art, there aren’t many people who don’t love fresh blooms.

We’ve rounded up some of the best flower delivery services that offer high-quality bunches, as well as exceptional customer service, so that this year you won’t have to worry about anything other than selecting the perfect flowers for your mum.

What are the best flowers for Mother’s Day?

Bounty Parents spoke with Summa Hicks, owner of Coolangatta Florist on the southern end of the Gold Coast, about the best flowers to choose for your bouquets this year.

In many parts of the world, carnations are regarded as the quintessential Mother’s Day flowers, but here in Australia, it’s chrysanthemums that hold that title.

Summa, who is a florist and a mum herself, loves using them in bouquets because she knows they will bring so much joy to the person lucky enough to receive them.

“Personally, my absolute favourite flower is the disbud,” Summa tells Bounty Parents.

“It’s part of the chrysanthemum family and it’s so beautiful, it’s guaranteed to make anyone smile.”

Just make sure your nursery isn’t too bright, otherwise your baby won’t be able to sleep. And sleep is what they need a lot of in the first year!

Up until 12 months of age babies need at least two day sleeps of an hour or two each, so a light-filled, bright nursery just isn’t a great idea if you want your baby to sleep.

Ensure you have some curtains, block-out blinds, plantation shutters or darkened blinds.
