Victorian students are back at school: Carrie Bickmore, Fifi Box and Hamish Blake share their joy
"Good luck to all the kids today"
After more than two months of remote learning, almost 600,000 Victorian students returned to physical classrooms from today.
The return to school has also come with a warning from Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews, who today urged parents not to let any students who may be ill attend schools.
School will likely stagger drop-off and pick-up times for students and all secondary students will need to wear masks all day.
For students in Years Eight, Nine and 10, remote learning with continue for the next two weeks until they return to face-to-face learning on October 26.
The Victorian Principals Federation President, Julie Podbury has said due to months of isolating, children may need to “re-socialised” when they return to school.
“It’s been quite some time for some of them — I know preps for example had only nine weeks at school this year, which is not a very long time,” said Ms Podbury.
Among the parents who are understandably thrilled to see their kids return to school are Carrie Bickmore, Fifi Box and Hamish Blake.
The Project host shared an adorable video of her son, Ollie, 13 dressed in his school uniform and sitting next to his 22 month-old sister, Addie. The pair are finishing off a bowl of cereal and as Ollie sips milk straight from the bowl, Addie copies her brother. In a sweet gesture Ollie ruffles the top of his sister’s head. Cute!
