“I’m heartbroken and devastated that my friend and dear colleague Trisha has passed away.”
Former relationship expert on Married At First Sight Australia, Dr Trisha Stratford has sadly passed away aged 72.
“We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Dr Trisha Stratford,” Channel 9 wrote in a statement following her death on September 18, 2023.
“Our sincerest condolences and heartfelt sympathies go out to her family and those closest during this difficult time.”
John Aiken, who currently stars as a relationship coach on MAFS and was Dr Trisha’s former colleague shared his heartbreak over the loss of his friend.
“I’m devastated that my friend and dear colleague Trisha has passed away. We shared an amazing seven seasons of @MAFS together. She loved everything New Zealand, relationships, the All Blacks, the Black Caps, French wine and traveling the world. I’ll miss you Tish. Thankyou for all the memories. Jx”
As the resident neuropsychotherapist, Dr Trisha was part of MAFS since its inception, before announcing her departure from the Channel Nine franchise in 2020.
“After seven seasons of Married At First Sight I have decided to step back from the television series to focus on my writing, research and neuropsychotherapy,” she said in a statement at the time.
“I’ve been involved right from the beginning in the challenge of bringing this social experiment to television.”
Dr Stratford was replaced on the show by Puerto Rican sex therapist Alessandra Rampolla.
In 2021, Wellington-born Trisha moved from Sydney to New Zealand to live with her partner, Rodger.
Trisha leaves behind daughter Gina and granddaughter Lily, who are based in Sydney.
