What’s on at the flicks? The best movies to catch these school holidays
Make lifelong memories with a fun cinema experience while the kids are off school.
From animations to live action masterpieces, this is a huge year for epic cinematography and fun family movie releases! And if you’re a kid, you’re in luck, there’s plenty of exciting movies this year that are sure to become firm favourites.
Even Mum and Dad will want to join the action, as screen legend Harrison Ford puts on the felt fedora 15 years after his last outing for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
HOYTS’ Director of Sales, Marketing and Content Stephanie Mills says it is great to see highly anticipated sequels as well as brand new characters hitting the big screen.
“Indy isn’t the only huge name on the slate. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the seventh movie in the franchise, opens with Advance Screenings from June 12!” Stephanie explained.

Quirky characters include Wade an empathetic 20-something water guy who isn’t afraid to show his emotions, Clod a street-smart earth kid with a gentle heart and Gale, an air element with a big personality.
Indiana Jones: Dial of Destiny

Harrison Ford returns to the role of the legendary hero archaeologist for this fifth instalment of the iconic franchise.
Set in 1969 against the backdrop of the Space Race, we see Indiana Jones teaming up with his goddaughter (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) on a new quest.
The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid is an upcoming live-action film adaptation of the classic fairy tale and the beloved 1989 animated Disney movie.
Directed by Rob Marshall (Mary Poppins) the movie features a star-studded cast, with Halle Bailey (A Wrinkle in Time) playing Ariel, the young mermaid who dreams of exploring the human world.

However, when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, he becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation. With no other superheroes to turn to, the Flash looks to coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian – albeit not the one he’s looking for.
