Rebel Wilson’s health overhaul was all about becoming a mum
Earlier this year Rebel Wilson revealed to People magazine the major reason behind her phenomenal ‘year of health’ in 2020 – wanting to have a child.
The actor and comedian told the US title that she didn’t start thinking about the possibility of having children until she was 39 and that’s when she looked into potentially harvesting and freezing her eggs.
With her fertility already complicated by the polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), Rebel knew she had her work cut out for her and has described her journey as an “emotional rollercoaster”.
Talking to People in May 2022, the Senior Year star said she went to do a fertility specialist who “looked me up and down and said, ‘You’d do much better if you were healthier’.”
After hearing the harsh words from the fertility doctor, Rebel decided to re-assess her health and revealed that it was “a future child’s needs that really inspired me to get healthier.”
It was on Instagram in 2020 that she caption an image of her exercising on the beach with the words ‘year of health’, and boy did she work hard at it.
Working with trainer Jono Castano, Rebel went on to lose 37kg. And it goes without saying that nutrition played a major role in her transformation. She told People that emotional eating had been a factor in her life and that she dedicated time to deal with “the emotional issues”.
“I would love to have a family,” said the Sydney-born star in the recent interview. “I’m just going for it by myself at the moment because of the biological clock.
The Bridesmaids actor who is dating Ramona Agruma, a successful fashion and jewellery designer (above), said at the time: “If I meet the right person, great, and then they can fit in with whatever happens,” she said. “It’s great that the technology exists. You have so many options with surrogacy and sperm donors.”
