“My heart was pounding”: Rachael Finch’s home was broken into while her kids were asleep
"I turned and ran to Violet and Dom’s room to make sure that they were safe."
A home invasion can be a petrifying experience for a family, especially if your little ones are asleep when intruders break into your home.
Former Miss Universe and mum-of-two, Rachael Finch experienced this first-hand and shared the story with her Instagram followers.
Rachael, 34 who shares Violet, eight, and Dominic, five, with husband, Michael Miziner, says her kids were asleep when she found out her home had been broken into in the middle of the night.
Sharing an exhausted selfie of herself lying in bed, the television presenter explained that police were about to arrive at her Sydney home to take fingerprints.
“To the people who broke into our house last night while our children were sleeping in their beds thinking they were safe… please come again. You left without knowing our thoughts or feelings,” she wrote.
“Can I just say, Our police force is pretty damn awesome. Didn’t sleep much from early hours of this AM. Fingerprints being taken today.”

Taking to Instagram Stories, Rachael spoke more about the terrifying experience.
“We did not get woken from the people who broke into the house. We got woken up just before 3am by the police knocking on our door and saying your house has been broken into,” she explains.
“The first thing I did, I turned and ran to Violet and Dom’s room to make sure that they were safe and all good. My heart was pounding.”

Rachael went onto explain how her whole street was targetted by the intruders.
“The police said that the whole entire street, so every single house, including some apartments on our street, were broken into,” she says.
“So scary you know, you just feel so violated when someone is standing in your home with your children lying there asleep in their bed, thinking that they’re safe. It is the most petrifying feeling.”
After the break-in, Rachael shared this image of daughter, Violet asleep.
