Holy macanoli, Punky is back!
Nearly four decades after the original Punky Brewster premiered in 1984, fans revisit a grown up Punky who is a newly divorced single-mum of three trying to get her life back on track when she meets Izzy, a young, rebellious girl in the foster care system who reminds her of her younger self.
Much to her family’s dismay, Punky decides that Issy will be coming to live with her as she gives her the chance at life that her foster dad Henry gave her and her beloved dog Brandon back in the day.
“OK, here’s the thing: We’re doing it!” Punky firmly tells her kids.
Soleil Moon Frye (Punky) and Cherie Johnson (Cherie) will reprise their original roles. The series also stars Freddie Prinze Jr. (Travis, Punky’s ex-husband), Quinn Copeland (Izzy), Noah Cottrell (Diego), Oliver De Los Santos (Daniel) and Lauren Lindsey Donzis (Hannah).
Soleil is no the only original cast member making a comeback. Cherie Johnson is also reprising her role as Cherie.
The new Punky Brewster also stars Freddie Prinze Jr. as Travis, Punky’s ex-husband. The trailer gives fans a little insight into that complicated relationship when Punky accidentally kisses her ex one morning and calls him babe.
