“It’s home time!” Leah Itsines takes baby Gigi home 21 days after giving birth
And we couldn't be happier for her little family!
Twenty-one days after the birth of their first child on March 7, 2022, Leah Itsines and partner Mitch Caon have taken baby Gigi Kayla home!
Twenty-eight-year-old Leah had Gigi by c-section and wasn’t able to take her little girl home with her, and, while she didn’t reveal the specific reasons why, she hinted that feeding and weight gain were concerns.
Throughout the tortuous almost three weeks that followed, the smiley entrepreneur regularly shared her thoughts on her Instagram story, as well as sharing super cute photos of her little girl with her doting dad.
Sharing pics of the ‘thank you’ hamper she’d prepared for the NICU staff, Leah talked about how Gigi might have to come home on oxygen and that they’d cope with that as they just want their baby home.
Their dreams finally came true, and they took cute Gigi home on March 27, 2022.

Sunday 27 March was a momentous day for Leah and Mitch as they finally got to bring their baby girl home!
ITS HOME TIME 😍 I can’t tell you how many butterflies are in my tummy right now. We get to take our baby homeeeeeeeee!!!! 😍
Gigi, I know you didn’t have the best start to your little life and it was a lot for you, but you are such an incredible little being and I promise you every moment moving forward is for YOU. Your dad and I are excited beyond measure to have you home, and your whole family has been waiting ever so patiently to get their hands on you to give you so much love, the love you my little lady, deserve so much. Just like we’ve been doing these past three weeks – we will learn this new life together as a family and grow with you. I just can’t wait to walk through those doors as a little family 🥺❤️
Special thank you to the special care nurses – you are angels and there genuinely isn’t words for how grateful we are for every one of you. I couldn’t hug you tighter this morning!! BIG love to anyone who has, or is currently holding their baby tight in the special care nursery, it isn’t easy – and no one will understand that “take your breath away pain” that you feel – and I can only hope and cross my fingers hometime is close for you too💛🙏🏼
Now….. Gigi I’m sorry but … I’m going to stare at you 24/7 🤣💛
Gigi cuddles up with her grandmother on her first day home!
For the first three weeks of Gigi’s life, Leah and Mitch went to the hospital at least four times a day to feed and bond with their daughter.
Leah shared on socials that she and her partner “feel like she’s been with us for a long time … I get the most weirdest feelings when I see her, it’s like my little heart has known her in another lifetime.”
Sharing photos on her Instagram of her mum, and sister, fitness queen Kayla Itsines, the proud mum posted an extended caption with her gorgeous photos, apologising to Gigi saying “Sorry, but I’m going to stare at you 24/7!”
Two weeks after the birth of Gigi, Leah revealed, during emotional stories, that while she’d received a mountain of positivity and support around her during a uniquely stressful time, she had seen posts where people questioned her parenting ability and judging her for not being at the hospital 24/7.
Trying to smile through tears, she asked her followers to be kind and to know that she needs to be busy otherwise she risks falling into a deep sadness. “I’ve been there before and I don’t to be there again – not for me, not for G when she comes home and not for my family who support me.”
“A little Gigi photo dump 😍 I want to EAT THOSE FOREHEAD WRINKLES!!! There is literally nothing better then feeling them against my face when she’s laying on me 😭”
Just over a week after Gigi’s birth, the new mum hinted that they might be able to bring their baby home on weekend of March 19 – which, unfortunately, wasn’t the case – and expressed heartfelt thanks for the team at the hospital.
“I think I’ll be extra hysterical,” she wrote on Instagram. “I have such a love for nurses and health staff, such admiration. I am forever grateful. The amount of tissues I’ve been passed by the midwives and lovely pep talks. I’m so grateful for it – I’m sure they take on SO much emotion.”
“We’ve turned a little corner this morning with her feeds and I couldn’t be happier,” said the new mum on March 17.
Posting on her Instagram story on March 13, 2022, Leah showed that was she was heading to the hospital to feed Gigi and shared a picture that she captioned “What a little snack!!! I could eat you” with another caption next to the sweet infant’s bare feet, saying “I’m going to have to eat your feet!”
In 2019, fitness model and co-founder of Sweat, Kayla Itsines honoured her little sister Leah by naming her own daughter Arna Leia, and Leah has reciprocated!
Kayla was delighted by her namesake and posted ‘THAT’S MY BABY! I’m crying so much’ in the comments.
Leah shared an emotional story to Instagram asking for understanding that if she appeared busy it’s simply because she needs to stay distracted during a tremendously difficult time.
“Welcome to our world little one. Born 7:34am weighing 3.17kg and 48cm long. She’s so perfect and we feel a love beyond our wildest dreams.”
The self-taught cook and author of The Nourishing Cook (2018), is also co-owner of BARE digital food guides, which extended into BARE Pregnancy last year. She and her fiance also own cosy sleep and casual wear brand SoliSleep.
Leah and Mitch shared snaps from her pregnancy photoshoot with their social followings.
