While fatherhood is a 24/7, year-round job, Father’s Day is the one day to really show how much we care and appreciate the dads in our lives.

On Sunday, our favourite Aussie celebrities took to social media to share heartfelt messages and touching tributes. While Sam Wood and Jimmy Rees were some of the celebrities sharing what Father’s Day means to them, Zoë Foster-Blake and Laura Byrne were among some of the women giving a shout-out to their partners for how they wholeheartedly embrace fatherhood.

Take a look at the sweetest and funniest Father’s Day messages from our favourite stars as they spent the day sharing the love.

After taking home the gong for Australian Father of the Year 2023, Zoë Foster-Blake, shared this touching tribute for her hubby and father to 9yo Sonny and 5yo Rudy.

“The mind set around being a father, father figure or mentor has changed so much in the past 10-20 years and thank f*ck for that. It’s because of organisations like @thefatheringproject who work tirelessly to equip fathers with the skills to be the best dad they can be, which has a proven and direct ability to positively influence their children’s health, happiness, mental health and social success.”

She continued: “And so we must support and salute the fathers, father figures and mentors who choose, no matter their circumstance, no matter their lack of role model, no matter their career, to be the best dad they can. Because fathers matter.

“I am proud of the father of my children, for going all in on parenting, and showing up every day, when much of society would still have us believe that was optional, not essential. Proud of him for creating a wonderful podcast, How Other Dads Dad, because he was hungry for dad wisdom, as so many young/modern dads are, and he wanted to create an enduring resource and a community of confident, compassionate men who wanted to dad as best they could.”

She finished the post, writing: “As our son pointed out, how can anyone aside of he and his sister possibly know what kind of father he is? Touché. But what I see is that as well as being a positive, present, many-hours-on-the-floor-playing parent, he does a great job of gently encouraging other dads to try. In whatever shape that takes.

And then joking, “What I ALSO see is 12 months of heckling him relentlessly whenever he leaves the bike helmets at home or buys the wrong bread for their sandwiches.”

Matty J

Laura Byrne took to Instagram Stories to share a appreication post for husband, Matty J who “shows up” as a dad to 4yo Marlie-Mae and 2yo Lola.

“You’re not just a fun dad. Or a cool dad. You’re a dad who shows up 100%,” she wrote.

“You’re the dad who does daycare drop offs and pick ups. The dad who cooks dinner and packs lunches. The dad who knows his way around a nappy change. The dad who wakes up in the nights when the kids do. The dad who goes shopping when the kids need new clothes and shoes. The dad who doesn’t just take them to swimming lessons. But does the research. And books the classes. The dad who carries an equal amount of not just the parenting load, but of the organisation that comes with parenting. The dad who is there in the fun times. And the hard times.”

She finished: “Here’s to all the dads who show our kids how important dading really is. @matthewdavidjohnson we love you endlessly.”
