"I feel like I'm part of Team Flynn."

Co-parenting with an ex-partner is not often part of the plan most people think of when we begin to create a family with someone. The unique challenges involved when emotions and egos come into play are not always easy to set aside, but essential to get right for a cohesive result that works best for the children involved.

Two people who are nailing it, are famous exes, model Miranda Kerr and actor Orlando Bloom with their 9yo son, Flynn.

37-year-old Miranda’s current husband, Snap CEO Evan Spiegel has recently sung the praises of his wife and her ex in a talk for WSJ Magazine’s ‘Marriage Of Mindfulness’ issue.

Gushing about Miranda’s dedication to motherhood, Evan said he was surprised by how “different” Miranda and Orlando’s relationship is from what he witnessed while younger as a child of divorce himself.

Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel and Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr began dating in 2015 when Miranda was a single mum to son Flynn.

“What I saw from Miranda and Orlando was very different from what I experienced,” Evan said.

In addition to parenting Flynn, Evan and Miranda share two sons, 2yo Hart and nine-month-old Myles and it’s all happy families at camp Spiegel.

“I am in no way a replacement for Flynn’s dad,” Evan explained when talking about the team effort involved in their modern parenting style. “I feel like [I’m part of] Team Flynn.”

And when it comes to Orlando, he’s a welcome part of the team at Evan’s home too.

“This is one of the things I love about Miranda. Everyone is welcome. It’s the Aussie way.”

“Team Flynn” has a lot of loving members with Evan and Miranda, and Orlando and fiancé Katy Perry all on board to help home grow.

Miranda Orlando divorced in 2013, separating after just three years of marriage. However the two have spoken often about how important not was for them to remain friends for the sake of Flynn.

Orlando opened up about the divorce to The Mirror, explaining, “There was a period of instability when his mum and I were separating and we both made conscious choices that we would be around as much as possible to help that whole transitional period.”

He continued: “Now things have settled nicely, everybody is in a good place. There’s a rock-solid security there and therefore more freedom to explore professionally that I have in the past few years.”

In an interview with NET-A-PORTER’s The Edit, Miranda confirmed that two are firm friends.

“It was the right thing to do,” she said of their heartbreaking divorce. “We weren’t bringing out the best in each other.

“There’s no hostility there, we’ll always be friends.”

And now it looks like their big modern family is set to ‘Bloom’ again with Orlando’s fiancé, pop star Katy Perry expecting the pair’s first child together.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are set to give Flynn yet another sibling!

Evan and Miranda began dating back in 2015. A whirlwind romance followed, which led to their engagement in 2016 and their marriage just one year later.

According to their chat with WSJ. Magazine it was Miranda who made the first move when they met.

The pair were seated next to each other at a Louis Vuitton event when Miranda told the tech giant that her favourite song was “Spiegel im Spiegel,” by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, a tune he had never heard.

“All of a sudden he gets up,” Miranda told the magazine, explaining that he never followed up on her chat, despite the pair exchanging numbers. It was she who texted him asking if he had listened to the song one month later.

“I thought I had no chance [with Miranda], so I wasn’t going to waste my time,” Evan laughed.

The pair welcomed their first child, a boy named Hart, in May 2018 and second son named Myles last October.
