It rarely has anything to do with being 'too posh to push'

Once upon a time, ‘too posh to push’ was a phrase bandied around when women had a c-section. Today, thankfully, there is a greater understanding about why more than a third of women in Australia have a caesarean birth.

Yes, some of it comes down to choice, but more frequently it’s about the wellbeing and safety of the mother and her baby. There’s no question that a section is major surgery that often takes longer to recover from than a vaginal birth so it’s by no means ‘an easy choice’.

In honour of these mums, we’re showcasing 20 of the best-known mamas who have given birth by c-section.
