Good bookin’! These celebrity kids are rocking Book Week 2020
It's been quite a year, but some things never change.
While many events on school calendars were canceled this year Book Week (October 17 to October 23) made the cut!
The literary celebration has been shared in schools and childcare centres across the nation this week with the theme chosen by the Children’s Book Council Australia of “Curious Creatures, Wild Minds”.
In what’s been a very strange year, the simple joy of dressing as a favourite book character has been bringing joy to Aussie kids, and you can see it clearly on the famous faces of the celebrity kids we’ve shared in the gallery below …
Celebrity dad Hamish Blake made an early run for the LOLS on Wednesday when he shared an image of himself recreating the cover of wife Zoe Foster Blake’s book, Back to Sleep.
The 38yo comedian captioned the image which shows him in bed, sucking his thumb while adorned with Texta-drawn tattoos: “Tomorrow we hav to go to skool as our favorit book character. I am going as the dad from Back to Sleep. He has a beerd. So do I. I love that book. It is widely availabul rite now. Zoe Foster Blake is very funny. The dad is a bit hopeless in the book but apparentli Zoe sed it’s just ficshun wich meens the real life dad guy she lives with must be very capable and cool wich is good to heer 👍. The end. By Hamish, grade 1B.”
40yo Zoe was quick to reply: “A for costume, A+ for taste in books, A+++++ for Wife Supportery, D- for tattoos!”
They’re not the only celebs to jump on the Book Week train, check out the adorable additions in the gallery below …

Jules Sebastian shared this adorable image of 8yo Hudson and 6yo Archer, captioned: “Book week 2020 here we are! I don’t know if it’s the stylist in me, but I’m weirdly so into it.”
The kids, who Jules shares with husband, Guy Sebastian are dressed as characters from Anh Do’s Ninja Kid series.
“Meet Ninja Kid and Cousin Kenny! Special shout out to @behindtheseamsau for whipping up some last minute lycra and of course to me for the jetpack which took the better part of a day 🤣 Did we do you proud Anh Do?”
Little Evie is adorable as she twinkles into Book Week 2020
Carrie Bickmore shared a sweet image of her beaming 5yo daughter, Evie dressed in a pink fairy dress with blue and silver sparkly face jewels and fabulous wings, captioned: “Bookweek fairy. Was honestly the highlight of her year so far! The simple things hey …”
Sonny Blake was an actual book and … LOVE!
As an author whose books characters – including farts! – were recreated in schools across the country, Zoe Foster Blake has some authority when it comes to book week, and she clearly nailed it.
Alongside an image of 6yo Sonny dressed as a Guiness Book of World Records she penned: “Happy #bookweek2020! Ahh, what a fantastic and rich tradition we have here in Australia, where teachers and schools enthusiastically celebrate reading, books, and parents’ ability to pull together a costume at 8pm armed only with glue, some limp fabric and a sheet of cardboard to surf the Night-Before wave of panic.
“My son is only interested in ‘fact books’ now, so he insisted he was going as his favourite facts book, which meant I got to do a bunch of Googling on tiny dogs and giant pizzas last night. (Yes. He went as a literal book. Don’t overthink it.)”
The author was also quick to acknowledge the kids who honoured her books, saying: “But mostly!! I’d like to thank everyone who shared with me photos of their kids, or themselves, dressed as little farts and burps for my #gasgallery. Choosing to go to school as an odorous gas is a bold and brilliant choice: I salute you. And special shout out to the innovative teach who dressed as Back To Sleep. ReSPECT. (And: comfort!)”
Little Valentina Vannini pays tribute to Emma Wiggle!
Melbourne Yummy Mummy, Maria Digeronimo shared a sweet snap of 4yo daughter Valentina getting wiggly in her Emma costume.
The Block winners make cute kids too!
In 2012 they won The Block, and Brad and Lara Cranfield have gone on to win at life too with their adorable sons, 4yo Harry and 2yo Jimmy.
While their design skills on The Block were incredible, that does not quite extend to Book Week, with the pair captioning a picture of the boys dressed in Ben 10’s Jetray and Spiderman costumes alongside the hashtag: #harryandjimsdonthavecreativeparents
The Campbell kids go homemade!
David Campbell praised his wife Lisa for the homemade creations she pulled together for 10yo Leo and twins 5yo Billy and Betty.
Wishing fans a “happy book week”, David shared an image of the three kids in costume, captioned: “@lisaluckiest crushed it with these home made goodies. Iggy Peck. Dr Doolittle. Rosie Revere. So good!”
