The most popular baby names chosen by parents in NSW

And the results are in! Parents have crowned Noah and Charlotte as the most popular baby names in New South Wales for 2022.
The list released by the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages saw Noah take out the number one position for boys, followed by Oliver, Leo and William. It’s worth noting, Oliver has been the number one boy’s name since 2014.
For the little ladies, Charlotte overtook Olivia, which fell to the number four spot, to take the crown once again for the most popular name. Amelia and Isla sit in second and third place.

NSW Customer Service Minister Jihad Dib said there were many special and culturally significant names had appeared in the top 100 names last year including Muhammad and Eli. There were also 11,000 names, including those with unique spelling, given to only one child.
“Picking a name for your baby can be a daunting task, a once-in-a-lifetime decision forming a child’s identity and creating a connection to family, community and culture,” he said.
