Alicia Silverstone’s nine-year-old son, Bear has decided to cut his long hair and he now looks unrecognisable. The chop comes a couple of months after the Clueless star revealed her son had been bullied by other kids because of his long locks.
Over the weekend, the 44-year-old shared a video to Instagram of the milestone moment, haircut.
“Yes, It’s true. Bear cut his hair!! My baby’s growing up,” Alicia captioned the post.
“I miss his hair!!!!! Was it his decision? Yes. Did I cry inside as I watched him get it cut? Maybe… but did I try to stop him? Not for one second. The reason he chose to keep it for as long as he did was because he loved it so much!!! He just wanted to try something new. Although I have a feeling he’ll find a way back to his long hair again in the future. No matter what though, I will always support my sweet, caring, and precious little boy in every decision he makes.”
In the video, the Diary of a Wimpy Kid star can be heard asking her son, “What are we doing right now?”
“Cutting my hair,” he replies as he runs his hand through his hair.
“Why?” she asks.
“I have no idea,” he grins.
“Are you nervous about this at all?” Alicia asks.
“Yes, very,” he says.
As two people begin chopping of his locks, Bear says he’s “so excited,” and once the stylists are finished, he seems pretty happy with his new ‘do.
Back in September, Alicia revealed to her Instagram followers that her son has experienced bullying due to his long hair.
“One time my son was made fun of by other kids because of his hair on a bus ride to surf camp,” she wrote.
“After he had returned and told me, I thought he would want to cut it for a haircut appointment we had already scheduled the next day, but when we showed up, he said, ‘Please give me a trim so I can grow it to my waist.’ That’s my boy! He knows who he is. He loves his hair and chooses to have it long.”
Alicia, who shares her son with her ex-husband, Christopher Jarecki, said, “He’s beautiful and we love his hair! We would never impose any social ideas about what hair on a boy or girl should look like. We should all try to embrace our children and who they choose to be without any judgement!”

No stranger to raising eyebrows with her parenting style, Alicia Silverstone sparked controversy in June this year, when she confessed that she’s been bathing with her nine-year-old son, Bear Blu during quarantine.
While speaking with the The New York Times about how she’s been spending her days in isolation during COVID-19, the 43-year-old single mum revealed that she took baths with Bear.
“My son and I take baths together, and when he’s not with me, I take a bath and that really feels nourishing and comforting,” the actress said.
