“It is really catchy and really simple, but it does highlight how important it is to wash those germs away.”

Keeping little hands clean has never been more important. Recent research from Dettol shows that 87% of children aged three to six don’t wash their hands properly.

Most kids don’t scrub for the recommended 20 seconds, falling short of health experts’ guidelines. Surprisingly, only one in five children always wash their hands after playtime or after sneezing, coughing, or blowing their nose.

Enter The Wiggles’ new handwashing song and their new partnership with Dettol and the release of two new Kids Colour Foaming Handwashes.

Lachy ‘Wiggle’ Gillespie uses the catchy tune, Wash Like The Wiggles to encourage his 3yo twins, Lulu and Lottie to wash their hands thoroughly.

This fun approach helps bridge the gap between knowing the importance of handwashing and actually doing it correctly.

Lachy says he knows firsthand how tricky it can be to manage germs with little ones but says the Wiggles Dettol handwash has been a game-changer for his daughters, who now happily wash their hands for the full 20 seconds.

“I must say, they kind of run into the bathroom now because they know they’ve got the Wiggles soap, which is pretty cool,” he said

“I really hope that it does help parents, and even if they can sing the song together, it is really catchy and really simple, but it does highlight how important it is to wash those germs away,” Lachy added.

Red Wiggle, Simon Pryce echoed this, saying that the partnership is a natural fit, combining the fun and playfulness of The Wiggles with important lessons in healthy hygiene habits.

“We understand that teaching children about hygiene can be as challenging as getting them to eat their veggies. That’s why we’re pleased to work with Dettol on a unique approach to education that resonates with children and helps messages like these stick.”

He added: “We’re super excited to be part of this great initiative, spreading joy instead of germs.”
