Paradise that’s perfect for family adventure!

The spectacular Tweed Coast and its beautiful hinterland in Northern NSW are fast becoming a travel destination on the tops of bucket lists the world over.

And it’s no wonder. With crystal-clear coastlines and inlets to lush tropical rainforests the Tweed region is simply paradise.

The best Tweed Heads activities for kids

However, it’s the kid-friendly activities on offer in the region that are a major drawcard for families. From farm fun at Tropical Fruit World, surf schools and watersports, play centres, great accommodation and fun on the waterslide at the Tweed Regional Aquatic Centre … there’s no shortage of entertainment options for thrill-seeking kids on the Tweed Coast!

We’ve shared some of our favourite things to do with kids in the Tweed below …

Tweed Rail Trail

We can confirm the newly opened Northern Rivers Rail Trail is worth the hype and is a fantastic experience for families.

The newly built trail follows the old, disused North Coast railway line. Right now it runs from Murwillumbah to Crabbes Creek as it winds through Stokers Siding, Burringbar and Mooball and eventually it will go further, reaching 132km through some of the area’s most beautiful countryside 🍃

The completed Tweed section is 24km and includes 18 historic railway bridges, including five that are heritage listed and two two tunnels.

The free and accessible trail is perfect for walkers, bikers and joggers alike. You can do the whole lot, or choose to do just a section, joining it or hopping off at any of the old railway stations.

We recommend trying the section that has the Burringbar tunnel which runs for just over 500m and is home to glow worms and micro bats. Its does get dark in the very middle though, so bring some light!
