Simon Pryce’s 2yo son makes his Wiggles debut – he even sings!
Watch the video, it’s adorable!
Red Wiggle, Simon Pryce and fitness expert, Lauren Hannaford welcomed their son, Asher William Pryce, in January 2021 and have been loving the wild ride of parenthood ever since.
The happy couple met on a Wiggles tour when Lauren, a former elite gymnast, performed as Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus and Dorothy the Dinosaur.
Now, Asher has officially become part of the extended Wiggles family after he lent his precious voice to an adorable new song and video with The Wiggles.
Asher sings the hero line “We got you baby!” in this heartwarming new Wiggles video ‘Huggies are a nice warm hug’. Asher also appears as one of the children in the video.
Watch the adorable video clip below and keep an eye and ear out for Asher!
(You can hear Asher’s gorgeous little voice at 28 secs, 1.08 secs and 1.29 secs. And you’ll see him appear at 50 secs, 1.20 secs and 1.25 secs.)
Simon couldn’t be more proud of his son and his Wiggles debut.
“Asher loves both music and dancing and he had such a great time in the studio with us all. The Wiggles are like extended family to him so he really enjoyed the chance to run around and play with some of his favourite people for a morning. He’s also obsessed with the Big Red Car so that was a bit of a dream come true for him!”
Simon and Lauren share the highs and low of parenting
In April this year, Simon and Lauren gave their thanks to Sydney Children’s Hospital after their two-year-old son Asher was hospitalised.
Sharing a photo of Asher with his arm bandaged but all smiles, fitness trainer, Lauren called her son “brave”.
“Our resilient, radiant, brave little treasure. We love you. ❤️,” she wrote.
Showing her appreciation for Sydney Children’s Hospital she added: “You are incredible, thank you. 🙏🏼😘”
Simon, 51, who performs as the Red Wiggle, skipped shows in Adelaide as he rushed to return to Sydney to be with his wife and son at the hospital.
Sharing the news that Asher was now back at home and recovering well, Simon said he was preparing to rejoin The Wiggles on tour – if his son lets him leave!
“Thankfully Asher is feeling much better so I’m back out on the road to meet the rest of The Wiggles in Griffith,” he wrote alongside a snap of Asher lying in his suitcase.
“I’m not sure if Asher wants to come with me or if he is trying to force me to stay home. 😂”
Simon added: “A big thank you and shout out to all the staff at Sydney Children’s Hospital. You are incredible. ❤️🙌 Don’t take this the wrong way but I hope we don’t have to see you for a while 🤣”
Last year, Simon spoke to Bounty Parents about how fatherhood has made him more emotional and the heartbreak of seeing sick kids.
“I’ve always been quite an emotional person but now I’m incredibly emotional. We meet a lot of children who aren’t that well and that really hits home now,” he shared.
“It always affected me with this job, but now it has a whole different meaning and understanding of what you’d be going through as a parent if you had a child who wasn’t that well and you’re dealing with all that.”
