10 ways busy mums can make healthy food and fitness choices, according to a naturopath
It's easier than you think!

As a mum of two I know it can be tough to stay on top of your health. But I’ve come up with 10 easy yet effective tips and tricks to make healthier food and fitness choices.
1. Take it back to basics
There’s no need to overcomplicate eating healthy and enjoying an active lifestyle. You don’t need supplements and powders to be healthy, just enjoy the basics like fruit, vegetables and wholegrains etc.
2. Drink water
We sometimes forget how good water is for us. So, put down the soft drink and juices and prioritise your water intake. Set a goal each day and I have no doubt that within a week you will be feeling so much fresher!
3. Eat breakfast
A nutritious breakfast sets you up for the day and makes you feel energised. I understand having breakfast can be hard for mums on-the-go, but that’s why I love our Probiotic Brekkie Balls. They’re so delicious!
4. Eat the rainbow
We have so many fruit and vegetables on offer to us and we need to take advantage of this. You can create some delicious meals, salads and desserts from it all. Focus on the rainbow and less on processed foods.

5. Choose your snacks wisely
I know we all get an afternoon snack craving or ‘feel like something sweet’ after dinner – or both! But it’s important to snack smarter by choosing a healthier option. There are plenty of healthy snacks to choose from, and if you’re looking for something convenient, the Food for Health range has plenty of nutritious and yummy options.
6. Find physical activity you enjoy
You don’t have to love high intensity workouts to be active, you just have to find an activity you love! This could be anything from yoga or walking to boxing or running. Once you find it, your motivation will grow.
7. Incorporate exercise into your social life
A coffee catchup with friends is the best. But why not switch up sitting at a café for a takeaway coffee and walk? There’s nothing better than walking and talking.
8. Find healthy foods you enjoy so you have cravings for them
I’m currently following a keto diet which makes me feel motivated to eat healthier, and as a result I am finding healthy foods I enjoy. When you find nutritious and delicious foods you like, choosing healthy options will come naturally.
Narelle says a nutritious breakfast sets you up for the day and makes you feel energised.
9. You don’t have to compromise your health to socialise with friends
You can make small changes, like bringing salads to shared meals and adding some fruit and veggies to your next cheese platters.
10. Preparation is key
Spending some time prepping food for the week can be an absolute life saver. By doing so, you’ll prevent yourself from going for the easier option which isn’t always the healthiest. I love preparing fruit and veggies to snack on in advance, some of my favourites are watermelon, strawberries and carrot sticks.
