Chrissy Teigen has delivered a raw and revealing update about the realities of undergoing IVF – and it includes an important reminder for everyone.
The 36-year-old, who shares two kids with husband John Legend, took to her Instagram over the weekend to address recent speculation that she was pregnant, revealing that she’s actually undergoing IVF in order to save her eggs.
“I wanted to let you guys know I’m balls deep in another IVF cycle to save as many eggos as I possibly can and hopefully make some strong, healthy embryos,” she began.
Teigen then referenced the injections she takes as part of the in vitro treatment and a key side-effect that comes with it: “I honestly don’t mind the shots… they make me feel like a doctor/chemist… but the bloating is a bitch, so I humbly beg you to stop asking if I’m pregnant because while I know it’s said with excited, good intentions, it just kind of sucks to hear because I am the opposite of pregnant!”

Teigan then seized the moment to discuss how pregnancy speculation is a deeply problematic conversation in the public rhetoric, saying: “But also like please stop asking people, anyone, if they’re pregnant. I said this in the comments and got yelled at because the internet is wild but I’d rather be the one to tell you and not some poor woman who will look you in the eyes through tears and that’s how you finally learn.”
The post clearly struck a chord with her fans, with more than 680,000 likes and thousands of comments thanking her for her frankness and raw approach to a topic that isn’t discussed enough.
One wrote: “Thank you for this. Not for me, but for all the amazing women in my life I know that are going through this.”
“Thank you. Any unsolicited commentary about bodies is off limits,” another added.
Chrissy Teigen and husband John Legend have always been open about their family.
Teigen has been open about her struggles with fertility in the past—her and Legend conceived their two children, Luna, five, and Miles, three, through IVF.
In 2020, the cookbook author shared devastating news that she had miscarried her unborn baby son, Jack, who had reached 20 weeks but encountered a number of complications.
“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before,” she wrote at the time.
“We never decide on our babies’ names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack.”
Later that year, Teigen shared another update saying, “I love being pregnant, so so much, and I’m sad I never will be again.”
We’re sending all our love and hope for Teigen and Legend as they continue this journey together.
