The literary celebration has been shared in schools and childcare centres across the nation this week with the theme chosen by the Children’s Book Council Australia of “Read. Grow. Inspire.”
Dressing as their favourite book character is bringing joy to Aussie kids, and you can see it clearly on the famous faces of the celebrity kids we’ve shared in the gallery below…

Miranda Tapsell’s daughter makes an adorable Paddington Bear
The Love Child actress who shares 2yo daughter Grace Birri-Pa Purnarrika Colley, with husband, James Colley shared this super-cute image of her daughter dressed-up as Paddington Bear, with the caption: “My little bear from Peru 🐻”
Lauren Hannaford is proud as punch of the her new recruit, Fireman Asher
Lauren ‘Loz’ Hannaford’s sweet son would make Fireman Sam proud in his first Book Week dress-ups.
The FHIT owner’s son told her “he was actually going as ‘Firefighter Asher’ 👨🏼🚒”, adding… “(get with the program mum 😆)”
Not to leave his famous dad, Red Wiggle Simon Pryce, out of Book Week, 2yo Asher paid tribute to him for his second costume (inset).
“Well ummm it would be rude not to go as Dad for at least one of the days wouldn’t it!?” wrote Loz. “The wiggly fingers in the last slide though”

Laura Byrne shared this adorable image of 4yo Marlie-Mae and 2yo Lola dressed up as characters from Where’s Little Unicorn? and Vernon The Penguin.
“We have a mermaid and a penguin who wishes she was a cat,” the radio host and recent Dancing with the Stars contestant captioned the post.
Snezana and Sam Wood’s daughter jumps on a different kind of Matilda bandwagon
After meeting on The Bachelor in 2015, Sam and Snezana Wood have four daughters. Showing off 5yo Charlie Lane’s Book Week outfit to his Instagram family last week, Sam wrote:
“3 weeks ago Willow had to choose her outfit for Book Week and she chose Matilda. On a day we are all @matildas Nailed it Willow. Go you Tillies.”
Former Olympian and mum-of-six, Jana Pittman wins gold for these costumes!
Jana and her husband Paul Gatward are parents to twins Quinlan and Willow, Charlie (2), Emily (8), Jemima (6), and Cornelis (16), Jana’s eldest child from her first marriage.
She might have a lot on her plate, but Jana still has time for Book Week.
“Book week!!! So much fun!! My sleeping beauty and Ironman! 📕📗📘📙,” the SAS Australia star captioned a snapshot of Jemima and Emily.
“Read, Grow, inspire!! Yes the characters are cute but love that it really does encouraging reading and also donating books to kids in underprivileged schools!”

A witch, a bear and a tennis player? Book Week is all about reading and dressup fun, so why not! Ex-Ironwoman Candice and Aussie cricketer David Warner’s daughters go for all out for this book parade, with Ivy Mae dressed as a witch and Indi Rae as a tennis player. And that little Paddington Bear in the background must be Isla Rose!
Influencer Carly McDonagh didn’t need to be a creative wiz with these book week costumes
Mum of two, influencer Carly McDonagh must have been delighted when her two sons – Connor and Sonny – both wanted to go as Harry Potter for their Book Parade. But “Who wore it better?” the Gold Coast native joked. They are both adorable!
