Baby gear made easy: The parenting event with expert advice and live demos
All the baby gear knowledge, minus the overwhelm! Inside Bounty Parents and InfaGroup’s parenting event.
Stepping into parenthood can feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to navigating the world of baby products, like car seats and prams.
With countless options and safety standards to consider, you could spend hours researching just to understand the basics. But there’s a simpler way to get all the info you need – without the stress. That’s exactly what the recent InfaGroup and Bounty Parents event offered to new parents.
Held at InfaGroup’s Sydney HQ, this one-stop, hands-on experience delivered expert advice, live demos, and plenty of fun for both parents and little ones.
Car seat safety advice for new parents
The event kicked off with a car seat information session which highlighted a key reminder for us all. In Australia, the law requires kids up to at least 7 years old to be secured in a car seat, booster seat, or the appropriate restraint for their age and size. Choosing the right option for your child – whether it’s a rear-facing seat, forward-facing seat, or booster when they’re ready – is crucial.
It’s important to always look for child restraints that meet Australian Standards (AS/NZS 1754) and carry the essential 5-tick label. It’s a simple yet effective way to ensure your choice is safe for your little one.
For installation, Infa Group encourage you to install the car seat yourself or at least attempt to – then go and get it checked via a fitting service. However, if you are not confident, they recommend you get it installed by an authorised fitter – but pay close attention to what they are doing as you will need to know how to move it and adjust your car seat in the future! And remember to pass this advice onto friends and family.
Here are some top tips from InfaGroup experts on safely installing your child’s car seat:
- Choose the car seat that fits your child’s age and size, whether rear-facing or forward-facing, and follow the instructions closely.
- If your seat supports ISOFIX, check that your car has ISOFIX low anchorage points; if not, use the seatbelt to secure the seat. Always consult the car seat’s manual. Position the seat snugly and attach it with either the seatbelt or ISOFIX straps (not both). Push down on the seat while tightening the straps to make it as secure as possible, and don’t forget to attach and tighten the top tether strap.
- Position the harness just above your child’s shoulders, making sure it isn’t twisted, and adjust it to fit your child’s height. To test the fit, perform the ‘pinch test’: ensure the straps lie flat, and try pinching the strap at the shoulder. If you can pinch any fabric, tighten the harness more.
- As your child grows, regularly adjust the harness and headrest to keep them properly supported. Watch the shoulder height markers to know when it’s time to transition to the next car seat.
Hands-on experience with InfaGroup’s range of products
After the session, parents moved into the InfaGroup showroom, where they could take a closer look at some of the company’s impressive brands. From InfaSecure car seats to Leclercbaby prams, Grotime nursery furniture, The Jiffle wagon, and TikkTokk furniture, parents had the opportunity to explore a range of high-quality products designed for today’s modern family.
Parents were able to chat one-on-one with the InfaGroup team, ask questions, and even receive personalised demonstrations. One standout was the Leclerbaby Influencer stroller – this impressive pram can be folded in just 1.5 seconds with the touch of a button.
A lucky door prize to end the day
The event wrapped up with an exciting lucky door prize where one parent went home with a new InfaSecure car seat, along with accessories – perfect for ensuring the safety and comfort of their little one.
This event was a win for new parents, giving them the tools and confidence to make informed choices for their children.
With expert advice, quality products, and a chance to ask all the questions, it’s safe to say parents left feeling empowered.
