Handy tips for starting baby on solids
What age should you introduce solids?
Start introducing solids around 6 months. Begin with finely mashed, smooth foods and gradually move to coarser textures. Your baby might only eat a spoonful at first, but they’ll eat more with time and practice.
Signs your baby is ready to start solids
Your baby is ready to start solids when they have good head and neck control, can sit upright with support, show interest in food by looking at your plate, reach for your food, and open their mouth when you offer food on a spoon.
What are the best pureed foods for babies?
Introduce new foods to your baby one at a time and choose foods that are nutritious and easy to mash like bananas, avocados, peaches, pear, watermelon, stewed apples, potatoes and pumpkin.
