Start a social distancing 'bear hunt' in your suburb.

In this time of uncertainty there’s a beautiful viral movement that’s currently gaining momentum across Facebook parenting groups around the world.

The idea is based on the award-winning classic book, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury. Households are putting teddy bears in their front windows or out the front of their homes so when you’re out on a walk or a bike ride, your kids can lookout for teddy bears.

It’s a social distancing scavenger hunt and some fun for little kids and big kids alike to do without interacting with each other.

In one Facebook group where the idea was shared, parents were quick to get involved, commenting that their bears were ready and waiting to be spotted in the front window.

“I shared your post in a mum’s group in Sydney (I hope you don’t mind) and it’s gone a little crazy with bears going up in windows all around our area. Thanks for such a great idea. My 3yo loves it,” wrote one mum.

A rainbow in your window is a symbol of looking for ‘good’ in a time of uncertainty.

Some families are also sticking a drawing of a rainbow in their window, with the hashtag #rainbowscavengerhunt as a reminder for kids (and adults) to look for the good in the world at a time of uncertainty and worry.
