At the ripe old age of 83, actor Al Pacino became a father for the fourth time in June 2023, welcoming baby Roman with his partner 29yo Noor Alfallah. Pacino’s ‘babycino’ has older siblings Julie Marie (33), and Anton and Olivia (22yo old twins) whom he had with previous partners.
The Scarface actor is not alone in the older dad stakes with 79yo Hollywood veteran Robert De Niro becoming a dad for the seventh time this year.
Comedic actor Eddie Murphy (61) welcomed his tenth child at age 57 in late 2018. He and long-time partner, Perth-born actress Paige Butcher announced the birth of their second child together, Max Charles Murphy in early December.
Little Max is the 10th child for the Beverly Hills Cop actor, and the second child for Butcher (43). The couple also share a 6yo daughter, Izzy Oona.
And Eddie Murphy is not the only celebrity father proving that age is no barrier. There’s a whole host of stars ready to take on fatherhood later in life …
Australian actor Butcher (Something’s Gotta Give; Big Momma’s House 2) and Murphy began dating in 2012, and while Butcher was child-free, Murphy had a liiiiiittle bit more baggage.
His daddy roll call includes Bria (32), Shayne (27), (Zola (22), Bella (20), and brother Miles (29) from Murphy’s previous relationship with Nicole Mitchell Murphy. Then there’s Eric (34), from Murphy’s ex Paulette McNeely, and Christian (41) with Tamara Hood. Oh, and of course, there’s Angel (15), whom Eddie shares with Spice Girl Melanie “Mel B” Brown.
As for becoming a dad later in life, Murphy joins an elite group of silver foxes at the nappy-change station.

2. Robert De Niro
Hollywood superstar, Robert De Niro became a father for the sixth time in 2011 when he and wife Grace Hightower welcomed daughter Helen Grace via surrogate. De Niro has Drena and Raphael with first wife, Diahnne Abbott. Twins Julian and Aaron with Toukie Smith followed in 1995 and he and Grace had a son Elliot in 1998.
3. Simon Cowell
America’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell, famed for his cold harsh-judging persona, apparently turned into a supersoft marshmallow when at the age of 54 he became a dad for the first time. He and partner Lauren Silverman welcomed a son Eric in 2014.
4. John Stamos
John Stamos (60) became a father for the first time at 56 when he welcomed a son, Billy with wife Caitlin McHugh. The Full House actor took to social media to share the news, writing: “From now on, the best part of me will always be my wife and my son. Welcome Billy Stamos (named after my father).”
5. Alec Baldwin
Alec Baldwin became a father for the eighth time in 2022, at the age of 65. The actor and his wife Hilaria’s kids are Carmen (9), Rafael (8), Leonardo (6), Romeo (5), Eduardo (2), Maria (2) and Ilaria (9 months). Alec is also dad to 27-year-old daughter Ireland Baldwin, from his previous marriage to actress Kim Basinger.
6. Steve Martin
At 67, Hollywood actor Steve Martin became a father for the very first time, when he welcomed his baby girl, Mary, with wife Anne Stringfield in 2013. Comedy king Martin was married to Victoria Tennant from 1986 to 1994, and married Stringfrield in 2007.
7. George Clooney
Oscar winner, George Clooney celebrated his 56th birthday just one month before becoming a dad for the very first time. George welcomed twins Ella and Alexender with wife Amal Clooney in 2017.
8. Mick Jagger
In 2016, at the age of 72, Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger welcomed Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger, with Melanie Hamrick. Deveraux is his eighth child from five partners, beginning with Karis, born to actress Marsha Hunt in 1970. He had Jade with first wife Bianca Jagger, and Lizzy, James, Georgia May and Gabriel with Jerry Hall.
9. Guy Pearce
Former Neighbours star Guy Pearce (55) had made a habit of stating in interviews that he had no desire to be father. However, at 48, and just one year after splitting from his wife of 18 years, Kate Mestitz, Guy and his new partner, Game of Thrones star Carice van Houten welcomed a baby boy named Monte.

‘Summer of ’69’ singer, Bryan Adams (63) was 51 when he became a father for the first time to daughter Mirabella Bunny in 2011 with partner Alicia Grimaldi. The pair then welcomed Lula Roasylea in 2013.

Jurassic World star Jeff Goldblum (70) became a father for the first time the age of 62 when he and wife Emilie Livingston welcomed a son Charlie Ocean in 2015. The pair had another son, River Joe in 2017. Jeff and Emilie married in 2014. The Fly actor had previously been married to Geena Davis (1987-1991) and Patricia Gaul (1980-1985).
12. Paul Hogan
When he was a tender 59, Paul Hogan (83) became a dad to his youngest son Chance with then wife, Crocodile Dundee co-star Linda Kozlowski (pictured). Already father to five adult children from his first marriage to Noelene Edwards, Chance brought the kiddie count to six for the Aussie icon.

Love Actually‘s Hugh Grant (62) waited until 51 before starting a family, and by 57 was a dad of five! He and his wife, Anna Eberstein had John Mungo in September 2012, a daughter in December 2016 and another child in March 2018. Hugh also has 11yo Tabitha and 9yo Felix with Tinglan Hong.
14. Bruce Willis
Die Hard actor Bruce Willis (68) became a dad for the fifth time at age 60 when his wife Emma Heming welcomed Evelyn Penn in May 2014. The pair also have a daughter, Mabel Ray who was born in 2012, and Bruce shares Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah with ex-wife Demi Moore. Bruce became a grandpa in April 2023, when Rumer gave birth to baby Louetta.

Sex & in City‘s Mr Big, Chris Noth (68) became a dad for the first time at age 53 when his son Orion was born in 2008. His wife Tara Wilson (then 37) gave birth to their second son, Keats, in 2020 when Noth was 65.
16. Elton John
Iconic singer-songwriter Elton John (73) was 63 before he became a father for the first time. He and now-husband David Furnish welcomed their first son, Zachary, via surrogate in 2010, followed three years later by a second son, Elijah.
