Fiona Falkiner: “He vomit choked and went limp for what seemed like an eternity”
Her son had just recovered from croup and an ear infection!
Fiona Falkiner and Hayley Willis had a scare that no parent ever wants to experience.
The TV host shared to Instagram that they had “one of the most terrifying moments in our parenthood journey to date…” when their one-year-old son Hunter had a coughing fit and went limp
Thirty-nine-year-old Fiona and her pregnant fiancee 30-year-old Hayley were in a hotel in Melbourne when the heart-stopping event occured.
“We were in our Melbourne hotel room a coughing fit saw him vomit choke and go limp for what seemed like an eternity….” said the terrified mum.
Fiona Falkiner and Hayley Willis posted a picture to Instagram with an extended caption about the scary episode.
The parents acted fast and managed to clear their son’s airways and Hunter was conscious by the time the paramedics arrived.
“After battling croup and an ear infection last week we were hopeful little H would be on the mend. Instead his cough turned into another virus…” Fiona captioned her upseting post, which was also shared by Hayley who is pregnnat with their second son, due in August 2022.
Hunter spent the night in the care of Melbourne’s Royal Children’s hospital and the family rested together before travelling home to Sydney.
The understandably stressed mum later shared images of Hunter on her stories showing that the poor little mite ended up with conjuctivitis because of the severe cold.
“Thankfully we were able to clear his airways and get him conscious again before paramedics arrived,” Fiona posted.
While the priority is, of course that Hunter is safe, the emotionally exhausting episode was compounded by the fact that Fiona could no longer visit her mum, who has Alzheimer’s.
“Instead of the long awaited trip to see my beautiful Mum for the first time in months, we will be resting before going back home to Sydney tomorrow,” wrote Fiona.
“My heart hurts for so many reasons, for H and how sick he is, and for not being able to see my beautiful Mum who continues to deteriorate from Alzheimer’s.
“It’s been one hell of a week, I’m grateful we are okay and just hope we can finally get our little man well again.”
