Purple hair, don’t care: Kelly Clarkson defends daughter, 6yo River’s “cool” style

When your mum is as rock’n roll as Kelly Clarkson there’s a good chance you’re going to find unique ways to express yourself too. And that is exactly what six-year-old River Rose has done by rocking a purple streak in her hair.
38-year-old singer and talk show host Kelly Clarkson has taken to Twitter in a pre-emptive strike against parent-shamers who might have a problem with her daughter River Rose getting about with coloured hair.
“I put a purple streak in my daughter’s hair today and I swear to you she thinks she is as cool as Prince now,” the Breakaway hitmaker penned.
Kelly Clarkson has no time to waste on parent-shamers.
Apparently little River’s hair transformation has channelling her inner rock diva.
“Full on air guitar, singing at the top of her lungs, that is what’s happening…” continued Kelly who shares River Rose and four-year-old son Remington with her soon-to-be ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
No stranger to online trolls, Kelly appears to have made a defensive move early, thwarting off any potential ‘opinions’ that might come her way with a little forewarning on her tweet.
“[A]nd before I get attacked for being the worst mum ever, it’s safe, organic paint,” concluded the no-nonsense singer-songwriter, before adding an eye-roll emoji.
Recently single mum-of-two Kelly Clarkson says River and Remington are “her world”.
Kelly and Brandon shared seven years of marriage before the Since You Been Gone hitmaker recently filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences”.
Following some to and fro over custody, court documents obtained by The Blast, reveal that Brandon has agreed to Kelly’s request to share custody of the children.
The American Idol winner has also asked for spousal support and for the former couple’s prenuptial agreement to be implemented, and the fact that Brandon has marked the box ‘other’ and ‘reserved’, suggesting that discussions could be on the table.
A source to Entertainment Tonight: “They are both heartbroken, but their plan is to put the kids first. Their focus is on co-parenting and moving forward, as this is the last place they ever thought they would be. They both understand divorce is never easy for children, but Kelly and Brandon are great parents. It’ll just take time.”>

As for what happened in their marriage, the source told Entertainment Tonight that “Kelly and Brandon had been having problems for several months and were making a conscious effort to work things out. They both hoped quarantining away from L.A. in Montana would help them work things out in their marriage, but instead the change in environment was actually detrimental.”
Apparently, “The constant time together seemed to make an already challenging situation worse,” and Kelly’s career “definitely helped to keep her mind off things, but this recent downtime gave her the time she needed to think about her life and her marriage.”
The pair share their children River Rose and Remington. Brandon also has two children from a previous relationship, thirtenn-year-old Seth and eighteen-year-old Savannah.
